How to move your log from Nara Baby to Gaia
Last updated
You can move an existing Nara Baby log into Gaia in about five minutes, free, without retyping anything. Nara exports a CSV; Gaia reads it on your phone and adds every entry with its original date, time and units. Feeds, diapers, sleep, pumping sessions, growth measurements and milestones all come over.
The steps
- Export the CSV from Nara. Open Nara and go to the Activity screen. Tap the avatar icon next to your baby’s name, then tap Export Data. Nara saves a CSV file. This works whether or not you still have an active Nara subscription.
- Repeat for each child. Nara exports one child per file. If you have two children, do it twice — you will import them separately.
- Install Gaia and create your family. Download Gaia from the App Store and sign up. During onboarding it asks whether you are coming from Nara; say yes and it takes you straight to the importer.
- Pick the file. In Gaia, open Account, tap Import from Nara, and choose the CSV. Gaia reads it on your phone and shows you what it found — how many entries, of which kinds, and the date range — before anything is added. The file is never uploaded anywhere to be converted.
- Check the name, then import. Gaia names the child the entries will be added to. If it is the wrong one, go back, tap the name at the top of the Today screen to switch children, and import again. Then press Import. A year of entries takes about a minute.
What comes over
- Feeds — breastfeeding with its side and duration, bottles with their amount, and solids.
- Diapers, with wet and dirty kept separate, plus colour and texture where Nara recorded them.
- Sleep, with its start and end, so the totals match.
- Pumping sessions, including left and right amounts.
- Growth — weight, length and head circumference.
- Milestones and health entries, with their notes.
What to know before you start
- One file per child. Nara exports a single child at a time, so a family with two has two files. Import them one at a time, switching children in Gaia between them.
- Importing twice is safe. Every entry carries the id Nara gave it, so a second import — or one that dropped halfway and was run again — adds nothing new instead of doubling your log. Both parents can import the same export without creating a mess.
- The file never leaves your phone. Gaia parses the CSV on the device. There is no upload step and no conversion service.
- Nara keeps its copy. Importing into Gaia does not touch, move or delete anything in Nara. If you change your mind, your Nara log is still exactly where it was.
Do I need a Nara subscription to export?
No. Nara’s own documentation says the export works whether or not your subscription is active, so a lapsed trial does not trap your data.
Is Gaia free?
Yes. Gaia is free and there is no subscription — the import included, and what you are using today stays free. More about Gaia, or download it from the App Store.
